Organised by An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland, National Picnic Day aims to celebrate Ireland’s heritage and landscape.

Offering you a Sunday lunch-time with a difference, eat and relax in the early autumn sunshine with friends and family at one of the fabulous locations on offer to one and all.

Join people all over the country, pack a picnic and visit one of a selection of heritage properties around the country.

An Taisce - 'The Store House, or Treasury' is The National Trust For Ireland.

An Taisce is Ireland's oldest environmental charity founded over 60 years ago to protect the environment and heritage of Ireland for the benefit of the people of Ireland and future generations and for the ‘Common Good’.

We believe this is best achieved through sustainable development, achieved by a long term and planned balance of social and economic development with environmental protection.

We are a membership organisation with active volunteers and local associations.
We have 60 years experience of environmental protection.
We work in practical ways to protect our natural environment and our built heritage.
We maintain an active voice in the important debates about the future of the country, we have the channels to get our ideas heard by those that matter and they do listen.
We advocate for sustainable development, climate security, food security, energy security and water security and against biodiversity loss.
We promote environmental protection and responsible development through education, through advocacy and policy work.

The National Trust for Ireland and the International National Trusts

An Taisce is the National Trust for Ireland and we manage a number of built and natural heritage properties in Ireland, with the participation of local communities. We have have restored the Tailor's Hall, which is our headquarters in Dublin.

Holders of an An Taisce membership card are entitled to concessionary access to heritage properties in Ireland (North & South) and around the World.
