This Place Matters
Ireland's Planning Portal For Communities
The This Place Matters Project is part funded by the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government.
In December 2009 An Taisce organised a major community planning conference in Dublin funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage & Local Government. The aim of the seminar was to assist individuals, community groups and campaigners in gaining a better understanding of the planning process.
Back in 1964, when modern planning laws were first introduced in Ireland, An Taisce - the National Trust for Ireland was officially given an official prescribed role in the Irish planning system of reviewing development plans. An Taisce has thus become a key player in the planning process in Ireland and has developed much expertise around how people can participate effectively to ensure better regulation of development that might otherwise damage our built and natural heritage.
