Registered Schools - Getting Started
Welcome to the Young Reporters for the Environment Programme!
Thank you for the registration of your school to the programme.
Choosing A Theme
Some of you have already chosen the theme of investigation that your group wishes to pursue. For those of you who haven't chosen your theme of investigation, it is important to do this as soon as possible so that your group can be 'twinned' with another Irish school or team researching a similar themed topic in a different area. These 'twinned' teams communicate, compare and discuss their findings with one another via email. Again the designated YRE themes are:
Waste, Energy, Coastline, Cities, Agriculture and Water
In order to help you with your choice of theme, I suggest that you choose a theme that is EASY to investigate locally or ideally, in the immediate area of the school. This way the students are not limited by lack of transport to take the initiative in considering the environmental area as thoroughly as possible.
First Assignment
Having chosen the theme for investigation, it is time for the group to write their first article. This article should serve as a preliminary investigation and should include the following information:
- Introduction of the Group Members
- Presentation of the theme to be investigated
- Preliminary Findings
- Plan of Action for Future Investigations
This article will then be posted on this Young Reporters website and available for public perusal.
