A Planning Tool Kit for Environmental Protection Seminar December 7th

Planning ToolkitThe planning process is designed to allow for public participation.  In fact, to work effectively, the planning process requires public participation.  Yet very few people outside of the profession really understand how effective the process could be in protecting the built and natural environment and promoting sustainable development.  The system isn’t perfect but this symposium has been designed to help people get the best out of the system, to know how and where their voice can be heard, to have some idea of planning law and to understand their environmental rights.

Back in 1964, when modern planning laws were first introduced in Ireland, An Taisce was officially given the role of reviewing any planning applications that might affect the built and natural heritage of the country. As a charity, run by members for members, An Taisce has thus become a key player in the planning process in Ireland  and has developed  much expertise around how people can  participate effectively to get better regulation of development that might otherwise damage the environment.

We would like to share this experience with you.
