A good example of a cut stone Market Weigh House.
HISTORY / DESCRIPTION
Built in the middle to late 18th Century under the auspices of Lord Gort who oversaw the development of the town to a major market town and staging post. During An Taisce ownership the Weigh House has been restored and used as a tourist information centre.

Donated.
MANAGEMENT ISSUES AND FUTURE PLAN
Establish endowment fund.
Assess tourism in Gort.
Work with Bord Failte regarding the reopening of the property as a tourism information centre.
Install telephone and electricity lines.
Opportunity to rent out for market days, still held on a Friday.
